~~NOTOC~~ ====== Gloria Webb ====== //Player: [[players:wendy|Wendy]]// {{gloria-jn.jpg?150 }} **Gloria Webb** is a twenty-three-year-old Caucasian (with possibly a “little extra”) woman who has a BS in Business, and was planning on graduate school when the riot happened. Her freckled face is in a perpetual frown, and she resembles the actress Julianne Nichols. Her parents have been divorced for over a decade and her mother moved to California. Despite this, they remain in business together; they have an empire of sex shops called The Treasure Chest that has adapted to – and profited from – the Internet age. Gloria’s hope to avoid the family business failed when her father was injured badly in the riots of 2008, and she had to put her graduate school plans on hold to take over the flagship store. Her parents had no other children together, but she has much younger half-siblings in California. Now, her bachelor’s degree (with a minor in computer programming) is being used to sell sex toys and oversee the store’s relocation from a side street to Newbury Street, as the riot left many formerly-upscale properties much more affordable. She is also responsible for ten part-time employees. Gloria sublets an apartment and she is actively looking for a housemate; she has put a two-year moratorium on helping her father, who is “recovering” in Mexico. Her only companion is her pet spider. Luckily, Gloria herself was not in Boston during the riots. Gloria Awakens as a Mastigos mage. ===== Character Sheet ===== **Concept:** Jaded sex shop owner **Age:** 24 **Path:** Mastigos **Order:** Free Council **Virtue:** Diligent and Dogged **Vice:** Cynical **Obsessions:** The Provincetown ruin **Aspirations:** Delegate authority (ST), Get out of the family business (LT), Learn magic (LT) **Mental Attributes:** Intelligence 3, Wits 3, Resolve 3 **Physical Attributes:** Strength 2, Dexterity 2, Stamina 2 **Social Attributes:** Presence 1, Manipulation 2, Composure 4 **Mental Skills:** Academics 2, Computer 3, Crafts 1, Investigation (Relentless) 3, Occult 2, Politics 1, Science 1 **Physical Skills:** Athletics 1, Larceny (Theft Prevention) 2, Stealth 2 **Social Skills:** Intimidation (Glare) 4, Streetwise 2, Subterfuge 1 **Merits:** **• High Speech 1:** Expo can use High Speech as a Yantra in spellcasting. **• Occultation 2:** When someone attempts to scrutinize Expo's Nimbus to identify her or track her, she subtracts 2 from their rolls. The Withstanding level of sympathy for spells targeting her has a minimum of 2. **• Resources 3:** Expo has a nice, upper-middle-class life. Every item has an Availability rating; once per chapter, she can procure an item at Availability 3 or lower without issue. Obtaining an Availability 4 item reduces her effective Resources by one dot for a full month, since she has to rapidly liquidate funds. She can procure Availability 1 items without limit (within reason). **• Status: Free Council 1:** Expo is a probationary Libertine and receives a +1 bonus to any Social roll involving those over whom she has authority or sway. Additionally, she can access Artifacts, Imbued Items, mentors, libraries, Grimoires, and other magical resources. The Storyteller should assign an Availability rating to the item she seeks, related to the power level or regular Merit rating. Expo considers her Status dot as Resources for procuring these magical resources. Merits suitable for requisition include Alternate Identity, Grimoire, Hallow, Imbued Item, Library, Mentor, Resources, Retainer, Safe Place, and Sanctum, all with Availability equal to their dot rating. **• The Train Car (Shared) 12:** The Young Turks have discovered and claimed a mysterious train car that shifts between the Red, Orange, and Blue lines; Sleepwalkers only register the car as ‘shut down due to hazard.’ The Train Car combines the Hallow, Safe Place, and Sanctum Merits; it produces 4 points of Mana per day and can store 12 tass before it becomes “dormant” and stops producing Mana until all the tass is harvested. Expo can add +4 to her Gnosis within the Train Car for determining spell control. She can leave the Train Car and retain those benefits on previously cast spells, but if she’s exceeded her Gnosis and adds any additional, controlled spells, the benefit goes away, and Expo must Reach as if she’d cast each of those spells without the benefit. Finally, the Train Car gives Expo a +4 Initiative bonus while inside. Any efforts by rivals to breach the Train Car suffer a -4 penalty and must also contend with traps that cause 4 lethal damage. The traps may be avoided with a Dexterity + Larceny roll with a -4 penalty. **Wisdom:** 7 **Willpower:** 7 **Initiative Modifier:** +6 **Defense:** 3 **Armor:** 0 **Size:** 5 **Speed:** 9 **Health:** 7 **Gnosis:** 3 **Mana/per Turn:** 12/3 **Nimbus:** The sounds of a delivery truck (Immediate), a tracking number (Signature) **Nimbus Tilt:** -1 Resolve, +1 Presence **Dedicated Magical Tool:** Smartphone **Arcana:** Mind 1, Prime 1, Space 3, Time 2 **Arcana Attainments:** **Counterspell** **• (Mind, Prime, Space, Time):** Expo can attempt to disrupt a spell using the specified Arcanum that is about to be cast. Counterspell is a Clash of Wills, pitting the acting mage’s Gnosis + Arcanum against Expo's Gnosis + Arcanum. She can attempt to counter any spell that uses the Arcanum, even if it uses other Arcana as well, but always counters the highest Arcanum of a target spell. Countering the spell of a mage with a higher rating in the target Arcanum requires Expo to spend a point of Mana. Counterspell requires an instant action. If Expo is employing Active Mage Sight, she can attempt to counter a spell of the appropriate Arcanum in combat, regardless of her position in the Initiative order, provided she has not used her action yet. **Lesser Utility Attainments** **• Space 2 – Sympathetic Range:** Expo can cast spells using her sympathy to a subject she cannot see. She requires a sympathetic connection to the subject, and a Yantra symbolizing that subject to use as a focus for the spell. She must be casting a spell at sensory range, use a sympathy Yantra, and spend one Mana. The spell is Withstood by the fragility of the sympathetic connection between Expo and her subject, but if Expo does not know the sympathetic name of the subject the Withstand level increases by one. **• Time 2 – Temporal Sympathy:** Expo can cast a Time spell at the past of a subject. She must be casting a spell on the subject as it exists now, cast at sensory range, use a sympathy Yantra, and spend one Mana. The spell is Withstood by the fragility of the temporal sympathy between Expo and her subject, plus one Withstand level if she does not know the sympathetic name of the subject. It is possible to combine this Attainment with Sympathetic Range to cast on a subject both in the past and at a distance beyond the sensory by paying to activate both Attainments, but unlike Sympathetic Range, Temporal Sympathy can only be used on Time spells that call for it and other spells Combined with them. **Mage Armor** Mage Armor requires a point of Mana to activate with a reflexive action, whereupon it remains active for the scene, even if Expo falls unconscious, unless she dies. Expo can only benefit from one form of Mage Armor at a time but can spend Mana to change between Arcana as a reflexive action. Mage Armors that increase Defense work against surprise attacks. **• Space Armor:** Expo adds her Space rating to her Defense. She also applies her Defense to firearms attacks. In addition, if Xpo successfully Dodges an attack, she can spend one point of Mana to redirect the attack to another applicable target. The attack hits with successes equal to Expo's Space Arcanum rating. **• Time Armor:** Expo adds her Time rating to her Defense; this also allows her to apply her Defense to Firearms attacks. In addition, if Expo successfully Dodges an attack, she can spend a point of Mana to reduce the attacker’s Initiative rating by her Time Arcanum dots for the remainder of the scene. **Praxes:** **Rotes:** **Rote Skills:** Crafts, Persuasion, Science ===== Appears/Mentioned In ===== ==== Dark Academia ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:mortals:recap}} ----- ==== Werewolf: Reconstruction ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:werewolf:recap}} ----- ==== Changeling: Tory ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:werewolf:recap}} ----- ==== Geist: Buried Secrets ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:geist:recap}} ----- ==== Mage: Death In the Dunes ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:mage:recap}} ----- ==== Hunter: Repercussions ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:hunter:recap}} ----- ==== Vampire: Wagers of Blood ==== {{backlinks>.#wod:vampire:recap}}
