The lupine immediately identifies Jessa as the counselor and Phillip as the pilot; he informs Phillip, "Thanks! Carving your initials into subspace allowed us to break through!" Phillip slides down his chair a fraction while Mel demands, "How did you get here?" K'tral realizes that the lupine alien is psionic while he asks, "What ship is this, who are you, and what is the stardate?"
