 Peter has an apartment in West Springfield near Memorial Elementary School, and is not currently seeing anyone. He lives alone; his apartment is above a small grocery/convenience store and he has no neighbors. Susan has full custody of Morgan and lives in Russell with her parents; Peter gets his son one weekend a month, and pays child support. Despite his police access, Peter has never attempted to track down his birth parents. Peter has an apartment in West Springfield near Memorial Elementary School, and is not currently seeing anyone.  On **Sunday, August 23rd, 2009** – Peter's 23rd birthday – he picked up an overnight shift directing traffic; he needed the money to replace his flat-screen television that Susan destroyed in their last meeting/fight. He had the day shift off, so he slept until noon, lounged in his apartment, and cleaned. At 10 o'clock at night he headed down to East Columbus Avenue; the Springfield Department of Public Works finally wrangled money from the state overseers to repair State Street and traffic was being rerouted. Peter ended up under I-91. At 11 o'clock a thunderstorm rolled in. Grumbling, Peter ambled back to his patrol car and stored his Smith & Wesson M.500 pistol and grabbed his poncho and his standard-issue 9mm Glock. He returned to his post and continued directing traffic for several minutes until 11:18 PM. On **Sunday, August 23rd, 2009** – Peter's 23rd birthday – he picked up an overnight shift directing traffic; he needed the money to replace his flat-screen television that Susan destroyed in their last meeting/fight.  At 11:18, he tried to stop a black Lexus to let some side traffic pass through, but the driver of the Lexus wasn't having that. The well-dressed man argued in a thick Boston accent that he was part of the financial oversight committee and he would have Peter's job if Peter "kept him from a very important appointment." Peter lost his temper and decided to teach this arrogant prick a lesson; he pulled the Lexus over and called for backup. He stepped over to pull the guy out of his precious Lexus when he heard an unforgettable sound: the squeal of wet brakes locking up. He turned to see a blue Honda speeding towards him, [[wod:characters:adela|a Hispanic girl]] at the wheel, looking at him in terror as she can't stop. At 11:18, he tried to stop a black Lexus to let some side traffic pass through, but the driver of the Lexus wasn't having that. -This lasted for a split second before the Honda slammed into Peter, sending him flying. Peter was weightless for a second, and then was introduced to Mr. Pavement and heard several things crunch. The rain continued as Peter died; the Honda squealed off while the Lexus called 911 – and then drove off. As blackness closed in, the sound of the rain continued until it was all Peter heard until he felt himself being dragged across the asphalt. The rain suddenly turned to snow, and a heavy voice with a thick Russian accent greeted him. The voice said he is Fallen Snow, and offered Peter a chance to avoid death's icy grip. Peter dithered for a split-second before realizing he had to live, for Morgan's sake, and he agreed. Fallen Snow wormed his way into Peter's heart and shocked it back to beating. Peter bolted upright, spewing rainwater out of his mouth – and grimacing as it tasted like I-91. His limbs were intact and unbroken, although he clearly saw the bloody smear from his landing. He got to his feet shakily as cop cars come roaring up to him, and Peter realized there is a block of ice-cold where his heart is, every time his heart beat a jolt of cold flickered through his body!+This lasted for a split second before the Honda slammed into Peter, sending him flying.  McLean was the first on the scene as he was working another overtime gig close by; he shined his mag-light in Peter's face and asked how he is still alive. Peter growled for Douglas to stow the light, he couldn't see. He then noticed other cops putting flares around the blood smear, and the fact that traffic simply went around his sprawled body. EMTs arrived and brought him to Mercy Hospital, where the doctors ran several tests on him and marveled that he only has superficial injuries – except his body temperature stubbornly refused to rise above 97.0 degrees. One of the doctors admitted he served as a combat medic in the Army and would swear Peter is suffering from hypothermia – but it's August, and that makes no sense. The doctor left after saying, "Happy birthday, you're alive," and giving Peter a supply of Vicodin. McLean was the first on the scene as he was working another overtime gig close by; he shined his mag-light in Peter's face and asked how he is still alive.  Douglas drove Peter home and rejoiced in the fact Peter was clearly injured while on the job, so getting short-term disability won't be an issue. Over the next several days Peter recuperated, swallowing Vicodin like candy, and tried to cope with all the changes in his life. Fallen Snow refused to divulge what he is or how he brought Peter back, and only stated, "I'm waiting for the others to get here." Peter was very startled to see the restless dead, and when one dead prostitute wanders through his walls he shot her – and the bullets sprayed through her and hit the wall. Luckily, the gun was a low-caliber 9mm Glock and nothing penetrated, and with no neighbors no one was hurt. The ghosts flocked to him, and he got little peace other then the drug-induced haze of numbness. However, as he grew bored and restless, he started cataloging the dead and their stories. Douglas drove Peter home and rejoiced in the fact Peter was clearly injured while on the job, so getting short-term disability won't be an issue. -==== Fallen Snow ====+===== Geist =====

-Fallen Snow appears as an amorphous flesh-blob with metal armor riveted to the skin, with wings and a bright blue glow. Fallen Snow is always paying attention, but not always to Peter specifically, although he will warn Peter occasionally. Peter likens it to a constant presence, but he is not always present. Fallen Snow does have a thick Russian accent when he does communicate to Peter.+//see [[wod:characters:fallensnow]]//

 ==== Keystone Memento ==== ==== Keystone Memento ====

 Peter's keystone memento is a silver half-dollar from 1910, with one side burned. He discovered it the day after his death, as he tends to fiddle with things constantly and suddenly found it in his hand. When he examined it and wondered where it had come from, Fallen Snow admitted it was his and said it was a token of their bargain. Peter's keystone memento is a silver half-dollar from 1910, with one side burned.
